Supporting Students with a Dual Diagnosis of Deafness and Autism Spectrum Disorder

Overview: Drs. Borders and Jones-Bock communicate and clarify many of the confounding questions about students who are deaf/hard of hearing and also have an Autism Spectrum Disorder. These experts share up-to-date information about Evidence Based Practices such as visual saliency, function based interventions, discreet trial instruction, and functional communication training. They address how the students’ perspectives differ from that of interested adults and why students engage in self-stimulating behavior. Validated functions of behavior as well as nonfunctional behavior are covered.
