The Skilled Helper: A Model to Help Address the Resistive Teacher

Overview: This advanced module explores eight indicators of high level functioning according to Carkuff’s theory. Teachers learn to understand how emotions make behavior challenges harder to deal with than academic challenges and the dysfunctional ratio of reprimand versus praise found in many classrooms. By learning ways to select goal-accomplishing strategies, brainstorm effectively, and increase motivation staff will be more prepared to be a skilled facilitator and address student needs well.
